Nigeria’s women’s national team, the Super Falcons, will travel to the United Kingdom later this month for a short training tour as preparations continue for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The camp is expected to hold from May 23 to 28, with one friendly match likely to be played during the trip, according to Savid News.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is organising the programme despite the absence of an official FIFA international window, as part of efforts to keep the players active ahead of next year’s continental tournament and the qualification race for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
“Super Falcons will embark on a training tour of the United Kingdom later this month as preparations intensify for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON),” Savid News reported.

The tour also comes after the team failed to play any friendly matches during the March international break despite earlier plans by the federation.
Some regular squad members are expected to miss the trip due to club commitments, although they are likely to return during the next FIFA window, scheduled for June 7 to 14.
Head coach Justine Madugu is expected to use the camp to assess new players and expand his options ahead of the competition, where Nigeria will defend the title won in Morocco last year.
Speaking to Brila FM, Madugu explained that attempts to arrange friendly matches had proved difficult despite contacts with several countries.
“The fact is that most teams are not ready to play us. I know a lot of efforts have been made to reach out to different countries,” Madugu said.
He added that the hesitation was mostly from rival coaches rather than football authorities.
“The federation may agree at first, but when the coaches are consulted, they refuse because they don’t want to face the Super Falcons,” he added.
Nigeria remain the most successful team in African women’s football after winning a record-extending 10th WAFCON title. The UK camp is expected to help the coaching crew improve team understanding, monitor new talents and sustain preparations ahead of the continental championship.
