Boulaye Dia’s stunning equalizer for Salernitana denied Napoli their first Serie A title in 33 years.
Mathias Olivera put the home team ahead with a header in the 62nd minute, but Dia’s brilliant 84th-minute effort snatched a draw for Salernitana.
Napoli needed a win to secure the Scudetto after Inter Milan’s victory over Lazio earlier on Sunday.
The Napoli faithful, who had been electrified by news of Lazio’s defeat, had to wait until the 23rd minute for their first clear opening when Victor Osimhen headed over from a free-kick.

Amir Rrahmani and Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa had opportunities to score but were unable to convert. After the break, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s long-range shot didn’t trouble Guillermo Ochoa, while Piotr Zielinski missed a chance with an acrobatic attempt.

Giacomo Raspadori’s entry paid off immediately as he delivered a fine outswinging corner that Olivera converted. Eljif Elmas missed the chance to secure the win as his shot went wide.
Napoli paid the price for not finishing the game off as Dia cut in from the left, got past Osimhen, and drilled a wonderful strike into the top-left corner to level the score.
Napoli will have to wait until at least Wednesday to officially win the title, while Salernitana secured a valuable point in their fight against relegation.
