Seyi Alaba becomes new captain of Ibadan Golf Club

The second vice captain of Ibadan Golf Club (IGC), Mr Seyi Alaba, on Friday night emerged as the new captain of the club.

Alaba, who is a trained Security Psychologist with a special focus on criminal behaviour and profiling, is expected to run the affair of the club for the next one year.

The new captain is currently the chairman, Association of Licenced Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria (ALPSPN), Oyo State chapter and he emerged as the winner after the polled a total of 111 votes ahead of his counterpart, Mr Wale Olagoke, who got 57 votes.

Other winners include Bernard Nduka (second vice captain), Adekunle Akinpelu (secretary), Tunde Awodire (course officer), Bunmi Oladimeji (competition secretary), Fr Akee (handicap officer) and Babalola (house and bar).

In his acceptance speech, Alaba thanked members for the confidence reposed in him to run the affairs the club alongside his new executive.

He said: “I’m happy tonight for emerging as the new captain of Ibadan Golf Club. In the past few weeks, I and my team have been working hard towards this day and thanked God it ended in praise. I’m happy that members voted for me en mass and I and my team emerged as the executive committee of IGC.

“As we are right now, we cannot afford to disappoint the club, these club is an elitist club and is the best club we have in Nigeria. We must maintain the tradition everybody know us with and move the club to the greater height.

“Myself and the newly-elected committee, like I said, won’t give any excuse than to push our club to the very best level and we promise to do that.

” In terms of our course, physical structure of the club and improve on what the previous executive have done. Everything we have said in our manifesto, we are committed to it and promote the image of the club better than before and put IGC in the limelight, that is my promise,” former President of the Rotary Club of Ibadan Jericho Metro hinted.

Also, former captain of the club, Mr Bayo Adeleke, charged the new exco not to disappoint the people but to improve on what their predecessors have achieved.

He encouraged every member of the club to support the new executive so as to achieve their aims for the club.

Meanwhile, a member of the club, Biodun Olatunji, SAN, said he’s optimistic that Alaba led executive will achieve and move the club forward.

He said “Seyi Alaba coming in is a good development for the club, a new dawn in the life of the club. We have been looking for innovative and elite and a classic leader to take IGC to the next level and I’m very certain that the quality we all saw in him and voted for him, we believe he’s going to take this club to the next level with all the other members of the club.”
