South Korea have named captain Son Heung-min and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Lee Kang-in in their 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Coach Hong Myung-bo unveiled the squad on Friday ahead of the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico, with Son set to lead the Asians in what could be his final World Cup appearance.

The former Tottenham Hotspur forward, who now plays for Los Angeles FC in Major League Soccer, remains the biggest name in the squad alongside Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-jae and Wolverhampton Wanderers attacker Hwang Hee-chan.

South Korea have been drawn in Group A alongside co-hosts Mexico, the Czech Republic and South Africa.

They will open their campaign against the Czech Republic on June 11, with all their group-stage matches scheduled to be played in Mexico.

Hong also handed call-ups to Besiktas striker Oh Hyeon-gyu, Celtic winger Yang Hyun-jun and Birmingham midfielder Paik Seung-ho.

German-born Jens Castrop of Borussia Moenchengladbach was also included in the squad as South Korea target a place in the knockout stage.

The Koreans will rely on a blend of experience and youth as they seek to improve on their performances at recent World Cups.

Son, who will turn 34 in July, remains central to the team’s ambitions, while Lee Kang-in is expected to play a key role in midfield after another strong season in Europe.
