STEVEN GERRARD wishes he could have played in the same team as Mesut Ozil during his career.
The Liverpool legend called it quits last month after 19 years in the professional game.
He played alongside a host of big names during his spell at Anfield including Luis Suarez, Fernando Torres and Michael Owen.
But Gerrard admits Arsenal star Ozil is a bit special.
“He’s the type of player you would have liked to have played with during your career,” he said on BT Sport.
“A lot of assists from him, a lot of magic.”
Ozil took a while to win over Gooners following his £42.5m transfer from Real Madrid in 2013.
And Gerrard believes the German doesn’t help himself with his languid style.
The Liverpool icon added: “I think he’s an easy target when it goes wrong for Arsenal because he’s so relaxed and casual.
“He looks great when they win but when they get beat he’s the easy target.”
