Sunshine Stars
Indications are rife that Sunshine Stars Fc of Akure may be banished from playing its home matches on home soil over an attack on assistant referee 1 Apine Emmanuel in the the match against Kano Pillars Sunday.
The Akure based side recorded a goalless draw in the match which made the fans went on rampage after the centre referee Damian Akure signaled the end of the match.
An unidentified fan had thrown bottled water from the VIP stand which hit the official in his forehead while the other two officials recorded one form of injury or the other.
Tribunesport scooped that the ugly development did not go down well with the leadership of the league who believed that with the same punishment meted out to the team last season, such was not expected from the fans.
“It’s obvious the fans are not repentant, with what happened to the team last season, they are still causing problems for our officials, they were noted for causing trouble or beating match officials, they will be banished to Ijebu Ode once again, this is becoming too much,” the source said.
He continued, “though LMC will still meet over the ugly incident, but it is obvious the club will be banished and make to pay fine ”said the source who pleaded not to be mentioned”.
