Thaoban Adesiyan wins LBSAA golf tournament

A member of Ibadan Golf Club (IGC), Thaoban Adesiyan, on Saturday, emerged the winner of the second edition of the Lagos Business School Alumni Association (LBSAA) golf tournament held at IGC, Onireke, Ibadan.

Thaoban, the son of a former Police Affairs minister, Alhaji AbdulJelili Adesiyan, claimed the trophy with a total score of 41 stableford points.

After his presentation, Adesiyan said he was so thrilled to have won the tournament, adding that hardwork and consistency on the course paved the way for him.

He said: “I feel so happy for winning this tournament; I already had the feeling I was going to win and everything worked out and at the end of the day, golf is an unpredictable game.

“After today’s victory, I want to keep winning; I love golf, I love winning and kudos to my parents, Alhaji and Alhaja Adesiyan, who motivated me to play the game.”

The immediate past president of the LBSAA, South western zone, Mr Seyi Alaba, thanked the participants for their love for the game, saying it’s been wonderful having his colleagues playing the game of golf at IGC.

He charged the new president to continue from where he stopped.

“I have so much confidence in the new president that he’s going to push the bar even higher than where I left it, so I’m so confident that the new team will do greater exploits,” said Alaba, who is the current Captain of Ibadan Golf Club.

Also, the Director of Alumni Relations at LBS, Henry Andoh, revealed that the idea of golf tournament for LBSAA was conceived in Ibadan, but the first edition was held in Lagos.

“That first edition in Lagos was a success and here we are at IGC for the second edition.

“The turnout today was fantastic, though we restricted the registration and we are happy with the response that we got and hopefully, we will have more participants from the intending golfers who participated in the golf clinic,” Andoh said.

In his remarks, Chairman, Organising Committee of the LBSAA golf tournament, Mr Bamidele Adeleke, described the game as the only physical sport one can play till old age, just as he urged members of the association who are yet to embrace the game to also do so.
