The three candidates for the best defender of the 2016/17 Champions League.
Marcelo (Real Madrid)
Marcelo was instrumental in Madrid’s Champions League success last season. He was strong in defense and and always offered an option in attack. The Brazilian was one of the most complete defenders of the competition.
Leonardo Bonucci (Juventus)
Bonucci was part of one of the best defenses of last season’s Champions League as he helped Juventus reach the final. He was a key player in the side that kept a clean sheet in both legs of their quarter-final clash with Barcelona.
Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid)
The Real Madrid captain did what he does best in last year’s Champions League campaign. He helped his team shut out some of Europe’s best strike forces on the road to becoming European champions. There was no miracle goal for the Spaniard, but he was pivotal for ‘Los Blancos’ all season.
