TRIBUNESPORT has been reliably told the reason Victor Moses may stage a comeback to the Nigeria national team.
Chelsea player Moses called it quits with the Super Eagles after the FIFA World Cup in Russia last summer, explaining that he wanted to focus on his club career at Chelsea.
But since his return to Stamford Bridge, Moses has not been figuring in the plans of manager Maurizio Sarri, who has consigned him to the reserve bench.
While speaking to Tribunesport, a source very close to the Super Eagles player in England but who does want to be named says Moses, in the main, plans to stage a comeback to the Super Eagles to relaunch club career.
“There is no doubt that Moses will move on if the situation does not change by summer,” the source told Tribunesport.
“Moses is looking at a big tournament like the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in June to return to the Eagles squad because he believes that with a very good outing in Egypt, his chances of reclaiming his shirt in Chelsea or signing a more lucrative contract with a new club will be boosted,” the source added.
In the current transfer window, a number of clubs have shown interest in the player and some of these clubs include Crystal Palace, West Ham, Burnley and Fulham.
With the news doing the rounds that Moses is interested in returning to the Nigeria squad, the head coach Gernot Rohr has demanded that Moses must be playing matches at his club.
“Moses should know the right time to quit. He is a good player who can always fit into any team if given the chance,” the source said.
Moses, it will be recalled, was an used substitute, when Chelsea beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 in the third round of the FA Cup last weekend at Stamford Bridge.
