REAL Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has reportedly put a call through to his wantaway star Cristiano Ronaldo, begging the Portuguese not to leave after he stunned the club by threatening to quit earlier last week.
Marca claim Zizou called the Portuguese forward – despite being away on a family holiday in Italy – saying: “Cris, we need you.”
Zidane sees Ronaldo as still critical to his team’s future hopes, despite his advancing years, and will reportedly do anything to keep him around – including paying off his £13million tax bill.
Meanwhile, former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has told BBC Radio 5 Live it will be “difficult to change” Ronaldo’s mind.
‘’If he’s made his mind up, I don’t think it’s going to be easy to change. He’s very strong-minded and clear in what he wants. If he leaves I don’t see him in a place like China or the Middle East. He will be always playing for a big club and trying to get more titles and more personal awards.
The Times reports that Manchester United are “exploring the viability of buying the 32-year-old back” eight years after they sold their No. 7 to the Spanish giants for £80 million.
Corriere dello Sport writes that Paris Saint-Germain are plotting a €140 million offer as chairman Nasser Al Khelaifi will sanction a record-breaking offer to land manager Unai Emery and the Portuguese superstar. Wages worth €30m a season — or more than €575,000 a week — will be tabled in a bid to convince both the player and agent Jorge Mendes that Paris should be Ronaldo’s destination.
Chelsea have also made themselves available and might have an advantage as Los Blancos are also interested in signing Eden Hazard.
