At least 120 golfers are set to feature in the 12th annual Elizabeth Adesola Akinjide Memorial golf tournament to be held at Tiger Golf Club (TGC) 2 Division, Nigerian Army, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Odogbo, Ibadan.
The annual tournament, which is solely sponsored by the Akinjide dynasty in memory of the late wife of the Patriarch of the family, Chief Richard Akinjide (SAN), during his days is now being sponsored by former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Jumoke Akinjide and her brothers.
According to the chairman, Local Organising Committee and former Captain of TGC, Dr John Dongo, all logistics have been put in place towards a hitch-free tourney.

“The tournament is being sponsored by Oloye Jumoke Akinjide and her brothers. This is the first tournament since the demise of the late Chief Richard Akinjide and it promises to be more interesting in the sense that this is the12th year of the sponsorship and we are expecting about 130 golfers across the country this weekend at Tiger Golf Club.
“All arrangements are in place to make this year’s edition a memorable one with a number of golfers and gifts to be won.
“We are expecting Oyo State governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, past GOC who has been part of this tournament since inception; former Oyo State governor, Senator Rasheed Ladoja, former deputy governor, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, and all associates of the late Chief Akinjide, to come and grace the occasion,” he said.

Dongo disclosed that participants are expected to practise between 12 noon and 4:00pm today, while the cocktail party is expected to hold at 7:00pm.
He stated that the ceremonial tee off is scheduled for 9:00 am tomorrow to be performed by the representative of the Akinjide dynasty, while the closing ceremony will be held at 6:00pm the same day.
