Former Nigerian international, Osaze Odemwingie, has advised Victor Osimhen against a move to Manchester United, warning that the environment is too demanding for strikers and can quickly turn against them when results drop.
Speaking to Brila FM, Odemwingie, who played in the Premier League with Stoke City, West Bromwich Albion, and Cardiff City, said the pressure at Old Trafford is unlike most clubs.
He stressed that forwards often carry the blame when things go wrong.
“I didn’t specifically mention Manchester United because the problem there is huge. The pressure on strikers is immense. You have to stay away from that,” Odemwingie stated.
He pointed to past examples of attackers struggling under similar conditions.

“We have seen this with Romelu Lukaku and many other strikers because the club is so big and demands results; they will always find a scapegoat.”
Rather than a move to the Premier League giants, Odemwingie suggested Osimhen should focus on clubs where he can develop in a more stable setup.
He mentioned three teams he believes would suit the striker.
“Arsenal and Barcelona would be good for Osimhen; they are mature clubs,” Odemwingie explained.
“Arsenal are my father’s team, so I mentioned them first. Real Madrid are also a great club for him.”
He also explained why he believes Real Madrid would suit Osimhen’s style, pointing to his physical and technical strengths.
“Wherever he goes, he can move the ball beautifully and demand possession. He is also good in aerial duels,” Odemwingie noted.
“Real Madrid’s pitch is wide and very suitable for his runs. He has a height advantage, and he runs well.”
The former Premier League forward also urged Osimhen to think carefully about his next step, stressing the importance of making the right decision at this stage of his career.
He said the striker should prioritise his development over reputation or pressure from bigger clubs.
Meanwhile, Osimhen continues his strong form at Galatasaray, where he has scored 13 goals and provided five assists in 21 league matches, alongside seven goals in 10 Champions League appearances.
Despite a recent setback in a 4-1 defeat to Samsunspor, he remains focused on securing the Süper Lig title before deciding on his next move.
Odemwingie’s comments come as Osimhen continues to attract interest from several top European clubs, including Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona.
The striker has long been linked with a move away from Turkey, with a transfer expected to be one of the major talking points of the upcoming window.
However, Odemwingie insists the priority should be stability and the right environment, rather than name or pressure.
