Edo Queens were crowned Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) champions for the 2025/26 season after a goalless draw with Bayelsa Queens in the final round of the Super Six playoffs at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt on Sunday.
Moses Aduku’s side finished top of the standings with 10 points from five matches to secure their second league title in three seasons, as the Super Six campaign ended in a tight race for the crown.
Edo Queens confirmed their position at the summit on a final day where Bayelsa Queens needed a win to retain their title, while Nasarawa Amazons also required maximum points to stay in contention.
However, both sides failed to find the breakthrough, leaving the Benin-based club to seal the championship.
The result extended a recent pattern in the NWFL Premiership, where no club has successfully defended the title since Rivers Angels in the 2020/2021 season.
Edo Queens will now represent Nigeria in the CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU B qualifiers as they continue their continental campaign following domestic success.
