Action recorded during ABS and Akwa United in Ilorin last weekend.
Akwa United are eager to recover from a 1-3 defeat to Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) FC, according to Coach Abdul Maikaba, as they face Rivers United in the match day two of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) today.
The Promise Keepers lost 1-3 to ABS at the Kwara Stadium Complex, Ilorin last Sunday and will face Rivers United in a fierce league fixture at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium today.
“We felt disappointed with the loss to ABS FC. That’s football for you and the next on our agenda is to plan ahead,” Maikaba told Goal.
“The next three or four games are going to be crucial as far as we are concerned.
“This makes the game against Rivers United very important and we will have to apply ourselves. We will give our all to grab the three points at stake.”
Maikaba is sweating over the fitness of defensive midfielder Azeez Aremu, who picked up a niggle during a training session.
