Nigerian striker, Victor Boniface, has reflected on what he described as a ‘crazy season’ after an injury-hit loan spell at Werder Bremen during the 2025/26 Bundesliga campaign.
Boniface joined Bremen on loan from Bayer 04 Leverkusen but struggled to replicate the form that previously established him as one of the Bundesliga’s key forwards.
His time at the club was disrupted by injuries and a long goal drought, limiting his impact throughout the season.
Boniface made 11 Bundesliga appearances for Werder Bremen and did not score.

Werder Bremen confirmed the striker will not be retained permanently, with German sports magazine Kicker stating, “Boniface has no future at Werder Bremen.
Boniface will initially return to his parent club, Bayer Leverkusen, after an unsuccessful loan spell in which he failed to score in 11 appearances.”
The loan spell ends with Boniface set to return to Bayer Leverkusen after a difficult campaign in Germany.
Despite the setback, he ended the season by acknowledging supporters, teammates and club staff for their support during the period.
Taking to his official X account, he wrote, “Wow. Crazy season for me, a lot has happened. Just want to say thank you very much to fans and staff and players.”
