CAF Champions League: Rangers face JS Saoura, Rivers Utd tackle AS Real

NIGERIA Professional Football League (NPFL) winners, Rangers FC of Enugu will take on the Algerian topflight runners-up, while Rivers United must silence the Malian giants to progress

Imama Amapakabo’s side begin their campaign in the 2017 CAF Champions League against Algeria’s JS Saoura in the preliminary round.

The Flying Antelopes picked the slot to represent Nigeria in Africa’s elite club competition having emerged as champions in the Nigeria Professional Football League – their first time in 32 years.

According to the draw conducted on Wednesday, Rangers will travel to Stade 20 Août 1955 for the first leg with the return leg holding at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium.

Should they scale this hurdle, they will face Egyptian giants, Zamalek FC in the first round.

For Rivers United, they got a hard-hitting draw having pooled 2016 Malian Première Division runners-up, AS Real Bamako in the preliminary round.

The Pride of Rivers visit the Scorpions at the Stade Modibo Keïta, Bamako, for the first leg, while the return leg holds in Nigeria.
