CHAN: NIGERIA VS SUDAN: Strikers can win it for Eagles ―Amuneke

Former international and coach of Sudanese top division outfit, Al Khartoum Watani, Emmanuel Amuneke, has sent a note of warning to the Home-based Super Eagles ahead of today’s semifinal clash against Sudan.

The former U-17 World Cup winner, who spoke to AOIFootball.com from his base in Sudan after the Eagles’ hard- fought extra time 2-1 win over the Palancas Negras of Angola, said Nigeria must be clinical against a very well organised Sudanese team if they are to make the final.

“I am not surprised by the exploits of Sudan so far, they were one of the dark horses of the CHAN tournament and they showed how good they were when they upset tournament favourites, Zambia 1-0 to get to the semifinal.

“They are a very compactable side and they tend to defend in numbers while hitting you on the counter-attack; if Nigeria must overcome them, then the technical bench must urge the attackers to be more clinical because the chances will come very few against Sudan,” Amuneke warned.

The Al Khartoum gaffer however praised the technical abilities of Salisu Yusuf for believing in his boys so far in the competition, saying it’s one of the best motivation the players need.

“I must commend the technical crew for sticking with the players despite their early struggles; to me, it was key in the victory against Angola on Sunday. I will just wait till Wednesday and support my darling country Nigeria when we take to the field because every Nigerian wants to see the team bring the cup home,” Amuneke concluded.
