Ejidike urges Eagles to consolidate Zambia feat

Nigeria’s Pillar of Sports, Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike has called on the coaches and players of Nigeria’s Super Eagles to consolidate their victory over Zambia in their subsequent matches.

The Super Eagles, it will be recalled, early this month defeated the Chipolopolo of Zambia 2-1 in a 2018 World Cup qualifier played in Ndola with goals from Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho.

Ejidike, in a statement made available to Tribunesport, noted that the 2-1 victory in Ndola should be tonic that would make the players to stabilise and harvest points in the remaining World Cup qualifiers.

Ejidike, who is also the president of the Karate Federation of Nigeria warned that the Super Eagles should not  be complacent  but must also take every game seriously.

“I watched the game against Zambia and noted that individually, our players are good but there is still room for cohesion which the game is all about. In other words, the Eagles should play a compact game rather than rely on individual skills for victory. Believe me, if our players get their act together, no country in Africa would stop us from clinching the World Cup ticket,” Ejidike said.

The Anambra State-born sports administrator also urged the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to start preparations ahead of the World Cup qualifier against Algeria billed for November 12 in Uyo, just as he urged all stakeholders to rally support for the Super Eagles to excel in their remaining matches and win the group’s sole ticket to the 2018 World Cup.
