Ibadan Golf Club to induct new members

In order to promote the game of golf, Ibadan Golf Club (IGC) Onireke Ibadan set to induct new members into the club.

No fewer than 80 new members will be inducted as members of IGC during the induction ceremony scheduled for Friday, November 29, at the club premises.

Speaking at the press briefing heralding the programme, the second Vice Captain of the club who doubled as the Chairman of this year’s induction ceremony, Mr Benard Nduka said the programme is part of the development of the game in the country and also making it popular.

According to him, the new members are worthy ambassadors in society and will be active members of the club as they will play golf, not be social members only.

The Captain of the Club, Mr Seyi Alaba, also said that he’s impressed with the quality of members IGC is attracting on a yearly basis, most especially the 2024 set. He said the set cuts across many sectors of businesses and professions, which makes it highly robust and rich.

He said “They’ve been taken through physical and virtual orientation sessions, they have been chosen for membership in this Club because we believe they are leaders in their respective vocations and because they display those character traits which will enable them to function well as golfers.

“The membership card that will be given to them after induction indicates that they are a member of IGC in good standing, and it is the only identification needed to be welcomed by all golf clubs throughout the world,” he said.

Some of the members to be inducted include, Oloye Adegboyega Adegoke, Dr. Olawale Dopemu, Dr. Olasunkanmi Kola-Daisi, Dr. Yemi Sonde, Mrs. Magaret Areola, Engr. Babajide Idowu, Engr. Olumide Babajide, Otunba Yomi Ojo, Mr. Kolade Ajani.
