Swedish coach, Thomas Dennerby has said that his philosophy is to develop the Super Falcons players and work with backroom staff.
He also assured that he would work very hard to ensure the Falcons perform optimally, not only in Africa but also in the rest of the world.
Speaking on Tuedsay shortly after his unveiling, the Swedish tactician expressed happiness for being given the opportunity to handle the African women football champions.
According to him, “I’m coach that believe in hard work. I am happy to be here and we are going to work together for the success of the team.
“I will be demanding of players to give their best in training, physical fitness and the competition.
“My philosophy is to develop the players and to work with backroom staff.”
He then congratulated the national Under-20 women’s team, the Falconets, for qualifying for the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup holding in France later in year.
Meanwhile, the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pininick, has stated that the decision of the body to engage Dennerby as the new coach of the Super Falcons, is a mean to conquer the world.
Speaking at the unveiling of the Swedish tactician at the media centre of the National Stadium in Abuja, Pinnick, who was represented by the Federation’s second Vice-President, Shehu Dikko, expressed delight with the coming of Dennerby to handle the country senior women team.
According to him, the quest to conquer the world was primarily the reason behind the engagement of Dennerby, adding the the NFF was hungry and thirsty for the Falcons to conquer the world, having already dominated the African stage.
“We have undoubtedly done and are currently doing very well in the continent of Africa but our thirsty to conquer the world call for the Mr Thomas Dennerby,” he stated.
“It’s our belief that we have the right man, it’s our believe that, we will succeed in our quest and we are going to support him to succeed.”
The NFF boss added that the football body would not only focus its attention on the Falcons alone but other national women’s teams.
“We did not focus on Super Falcons alone, NFF has been working very hard to ensure all the teams be adequately cater for,” he assured.
Dennerby, who signed a contract last week with the NFF lasting till the 2020 Olympics, is coming with an assistant, Jorgen Petersson, a highly experienced Swedish coach nominated by the new Falcons gaffer himself.
Meanwhile, Technical and Development Committee of the NFF has announced Olarenwaju Wemimo Oni, Maureen Madu and former Falcons goalkeeper, Precious Dede as assistant coach and goalkeepers’ trainer to work with Dennerby and Petersson.
