Major worry for Arsenal: Two Euro giants ready to meet Mesut Ozil’s new contract demands

ARSENAL are facing a battle to keep hold of star man Mesut Ozil.

The 27-year-old has entered the final two years of the contract he signed when he arrived from Real Madrid in 2013 and talks have taken place about an extension.

Ozil’s representatives were originally looking for a £200,000-a-week package.

But they have now hiked their demands to £250,000-a-week.

The fall in the value of the pound since the Brexit vote is said to have influenced the decision and, according to the Sunday Express, Arsenal could decide against shattering their wage ceiling.

Ozil is keen to stay in north London but he is not short of suitors.

It’s claimed Real and Bayern Munich are prepared to meet his demands if Arsenal refuse to do so.

Alexis Sanchez is demanding a similar figure to Ozil and Squawka reported yesterday that Arsenal have growing concerns about whether the Chile forward will commit his future to the club.

Former Gunners midfielder Perry Groves has warned Ozil and Sanchez to drop their demands.

“Have Arsenal got the money to spend? Yes they have,” he told The Sun.

“Will they get the 250-grand-a-week they are looking for? I don’t think they will get that.”
