A member of the Tiger Golf Club (TGC), Monday Stephen, on Sunday emerged the winner of the 30th edition of the annual Tiger Open Golf Tournament.
The week-long tournament, held at the Tiger Golf Club, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Ibadan, attracted over 235 golf enthusiasts and players from across the country, showcasing skill, sportsmanship, and camaraderie on the greens.
Stephen claimed the overall Gross winner’s title after an impressive performance and outclassing other contenders to lift the trophy.
Speaking after his presentation, Stephen expressed delight at his victory, describing it as a product of hard work and determination.
“I’m happy to win the Tiger Open Golf Tournament,” he said.
“This victory means a lot to me, and it’s a reward for the effort and consistency I’ve put into my game.”
Also speaking, Captain of the Club, Alhaji Gbenga Zubair, highlighted the significance of the Tiger Open, describing it as a cornerstone of the club’s heritage and the community.
“For three decades, this tournament has been a tradition that brings us together year after year,” he said.
“It’s amazing to reflect on how far we’ve come — from our humble beginnings to this spectacular 30th edition. We gather not just for a round of golf, but to celebrate perseverance, camaraderie, and sportsmanship.”
Zubair expressed appreciation to the event’s sponsors and partners for their continued support.
“We are sincerely grateful to everyone who made this day possible. Special thanks to our major sponsors — 2 Division Nigerian Army, United Bank for Africa (UBA), Milah Travels & Logistics, and others — whose invaluable support has been instrumental in sustaining this tournament,” he added.
He also commended the Local Organising Committee and the Tiger Golf Club staff for maintaining the course in excellent condition.
Zubair further noted that this year’s edition featured a Pro Invitational, which added an exciting professional touch to the event and gave amateur players the opportunity to learn from top professionals.
