Oboboana eyes league title with Saudi club

Nigerian international Godfrey Oboabona is loooking forward to winning the Pro league title in Saudi Arabia with Al Ahli FC, as he expressed confidence that the Jeddah-based team would continue to churn out superb performances in the Saudi Arabian league.

Speaking after the Professional league match against Al Taawon which ended in a 1-1 draw, the 2013 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) winner noted that Al Ahli have what it takes to win the title at the end of the season.

Oboabona, who has featured in eight of the 10 matches for the Jeddah-based team this season, stated that Al Ahli are fully prepared to sustain their position on the table till the end of the season.

“It’s very nice to see my team on the top of the table and we are enjoying every moment of the game. I missed the first two matches of the season due to malaria.

“We are aware of what is at stake and the challenges ahead, but we are experienced enough to know that nothing is won at this stage and that is why we are working hard to keep our focus,” said the former Sunshine Stars player.

Al Ahli who top the table with 21 points from 10 matches will confront  Al Quadisiya in their next match.
