The relegation-threatened side are closer to league safety according to their match winner
One goal was more than enough to secure all three points for Plateau United in Sunday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Match Day 34 clash against Shooting Stars at the Rwang Pam Stadium.
12 minutes from time, striker Benjamin Turba kept his cool to score from the penalty spot to secure maximum points for the hosts.
“Tough one for us, thank God for the important victory. It was an edgy game,” Turba told Goal.
“Scoring at such a crucial time gives me joy. What can I ask for? We are getting closer to our target which is to retain our league status.
“Shooting Stars gave us a good fight in front of our fans in Jos.
“I must commend them for their fighting spirit.
“This victory will go a long way to decide our fate when the campaign comes to a climax.
Turba hailed his team mates for not relenting despite the stubborn performance put up by the Oluyole Warriors.
“I think the whole team worked so hard to grab the three points at stake.
“We all worked hard throughout the match and deserved to win,” he added.
Plateau United are 11th on the NPFL table with 45 points from 32 games.
