Former Captain of Ibadan Golf Club, Mr Bayo Aderinto, on Sunday donated a trophy in honour of the late Maj. Gen. Ekpo Archibong, the first patron of both the Ibadan Golf Club and the Tiger Golf Club
Archibong was a former General Officer Commander (GOC) Nigerian Army 2nd Mechanised Division, Odogbo, Ibadan.
Speaking at the presentation, Aderinto said the donation was made to immortalise the legacy of the retired military officer, who was also the founder of the Tiger Golf Club.
“I present this trophy in memory of the first patron of our two clubs – Maj. Gen. Ekpo Archibong CFR, OON,” Aderinto said. “This trophy is to be presented to the winner of the Inter-Club event on all occasions.”
He added that the trophy would be known as the ‘Unity Forever Trophy’, stressing that its purpose is to strengthen the bond between Ibadan Golf Club and Tiger Golf Club.

“The Unity Forever Trophy is meant to engender mutual development and growth of the two clubs, as envisioned by our past heroes,” he said.
The gesture was warmly received by members of both clubs, who described it as a fitting tribute to Maj. Gen. Archibong’s contributions to golf development and inter-club unity in Nigeria.
The Unity Forever Trophy is expected to become a permanent feature of future Inter-Club competitions between the two golf clubs.
