Ibadan Golf Club set to induct over 100 new members

The Ibadan Golf Club (IGC) is set to induct over 100 new members as part of efforts to strengthen the club and enhance its standards, the Captain, Seyi Alaba, has said.

The programme is scheduled for Friday, December 19, at the club premises in Onireke, GRA, Ibadan.

Alaba disclosed during the press conference on Thursday heralded the programme, noting that the new entrants were carefully selected and met the club’s requirements in terms of character and social standing.

According to him, the incoming members are respected individuals who are well-established in society and are expected to contribute positively to the growth of the club.

“The new members are well-to-do in society and of good character. They have gone through the necessary screening processes and meet the values and traditions of the Ibadan Golf Club,” Alaba said.

The Captain reaffirmed his commitment to uplifting the club during his tenure, stressing that membership expansion would go hand in hand with infrastructural development and improved welfare for members.

“Our goal is not just to increase the number of members, but to uplift the club in all areas — from facilities to golfing standards and overall member experience,” he added.

Alaba expressed optimism that the induction of the new members would bring fresh energy, ideas and resources that would further position the Ibadan Golf Club as one of the leading golf clubs in the country.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Membership Committee, Barrister Titilola Sodo, assured members that due process was followed in the selection of the new inductees.

“We ensured that every prospective member was thoroughly screened. Character, integrity and commitment to the ideals of the club were key considerations throughout the process,” Sodo said.

He added that the committee remained committed to maintaining the prestige and long-standing traditions of the Ibadan Golf Club.
