The Portuguese has complained his personal life is a disaster while he lives in the luxurious Lowry Hotel
JOSE MOURINHO’S lonely Alan Partridge-style hotel life could soon be ending – as he is finally having a SECOND viewing of one of Manchester’s most luxurious penthouses.
But the bad news is that moody Mourinho could still be having Christmas dinner served up by waiters . . . the extravagant property isn’t available to rent until mid-January.
It is understood that wife Matilde will join her hubby later this week to give the once over to the 42nd floor pad at Manchester’s most prestigious block, the Beetham Tower which houses the Hilton below it.
She has been reluctant to move from the family’s £25million home in London where fashion student daughter Matilde, 19, and Fulham-hopeful son Jose Jr. both live.
But unhappy Mourinho, who has described his personal home life in Manchester as a “disaster”, is thought to have persuaded his wife to come and stay with him for some parts of the week while he sorts out his Manchester United team.
And the three bedroom penthouse is seen by club officials as being the best choice for him – after we revealed Jose had been dubbed The Stubborn One behind his back for re-buffing around TEN magnificent mansions in and around the footballers’ Cheshire districts of Alderley Edge, Prestbury, Bowdon and Hale.
A club insider said: “It has all been very frustrating – however there was no pressure on Jose to move out of the hotel quickly.
“But it now appears he could be close to getting a place of his own – a stunning penthouse in the city centre.
“It ticks all the boxes for him so we are hoping that his wife will also take to it – there is no way he will be able to move her up permanently from London, which she adores, but at least she can come and stay with him for days on ends.
“And there are three bedrooms as well so the kids can visit if they want to, although there is a feeling we shan’t be seeing too much of them.”
The source added: “It has been a difficult time on the personal front for Jose – he has been telling people that life in London and life in Manchester is akin to living in two different countries!
“People at the club are praying that a more settled private life will make him the Happy One again.”
The property in question is available for rent from a shade under £5,000 a month – a drop in the ocean to what his stay at Salford’s five-star Lowry Hotel has been costing.
It has astonishing panoramic view across the city – and if Mourinho fancies a relaxing bath, the floor to ceiling window will give him a magnificent horizon as he soaks up the suds.
