Bayern Munich have responded to the Polish striker’s controversial remarks through their own president, who wouldn’t tolerate any more similar outbursts.

“He is someone who we employ as a player and he earns a lot of money. I regret what he said,” the president of the club, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, told ‘Bild’.

The head of the Bavarian side warned the 29-year-old that he would not be allowed to make any more similar remarks in future and he did so in a threatening tone. “Anyone who publicly criticises the club or their team-mates will have problems with me personally,” added Rummenigge.

The Bayern president, himself an ex-footballer, admitted to the German media that the striker had reason to be disappointed by the great power shown by PSG during the transfer market, but denied that it was something he had to make public.

A few days ago, Lewandowski had criticised the lack of important reinforcements brought in by Bayern, saying that the transfer costs of the German champions – some €40m – was similar to average clubs and not the most powerful ones.
